- I do not want such junk on by default.
- My callers do NOT want default messages in
German.

how to turn off junk I never wanted to buy.

Telcos.:
I do not want Deutsche
Telekom to have control of it via their
0800 33 02424. Why trust a company that still
uses common German habit of hiding their
tricks in small print needing a magnifying
glass ? eg 2016-11 Deutsche Telekom leaflet
advertising POTS to Magenta conversion , with
un-readably small print Note 2 hidden on
back, re. extra 5 Euro / month for Speedport W 724V. (Dirty trick
small print is still common in Germany in
print, even occasionally screeds of text
flashing up in ridiculously unreadable small
print after a TV advert).
(There was a big campaign in UK decades ago
to get rid of small print trick clauses.
UK, They're [partly] illegal in
USA)
- I prefer own answer-phone on premises I can
disconnect from net, &/or not need internet
to access, & no one else can mess with, eg no
one can decide to delete messages after
[changing] default timeouts; that I can also
leave on eg GMT or German winter (solar) time not
politicians summer time, & not have inverted
digit couplets each time a machine speaks German
message number, times of messages, or whatever
other junk.

on copper from box on street to exchange. I think
here in Munich Deutsche
Telekom have probably installed optic fibre. Also
all consumer must be using vectoring, it doesn't work
if some in house are using another provider.

I delayed conversion as mine is not a standard case:
- First question Deutsche
Telekom always ask is "What router do you use?"
Answer: "None. - I use a DSL modem + PCs running FreeBSD (something
like Linux) as a router, with own custom firewall, I
have No
Microsoft.

I use ISDN for
- Caller ID: ISDN PCI cards in FreeBSD gates look
up caller ID via isdnd, convert to names, &
relay text to X-Windows screens (maybe I could
names, not just numbers on some modern phones, eg
DECT, but not so easily visible, or as long with
notes, or as big a font, perhaps some in red, &
not with such a large font, & not with 7,600
numbers I have)
- + ISDN PBX(uk)=LCO(usa)=TkAnlage(de) (which may
or not be replaced by a router with an S0 bus, but
I'm loathe to lose it as its a proper PBX,
controlled by public domain source, & I created
the FreeBSD ports skeleton. (but yes OK, PBX is
dieing)
- + I used to also do ISDN data with extra
security from known caller ID) - though that I
probably have no further need of, especially as Deutsche Telekom will be
killing off other ISDN lines that might have wanted
to call me).
(One unified master source address `book' emits to: Dumb
phone sim card, + Pbx + Gate Isdn cards - Not yet to
android smart phone/ tablets.)

Supposedly I was to decide by end of Oct, else cut off,
but I asked about letter 12.10.2016 saying by 04.04.2017,
& he said Ah yes, earlier correspondence was internal
only to Deutsche Telekom not to
me, so we agreed he'll now next phone me Fri 4th Nov.
He offered: {Free for a year, plus bonus 120 [on phone,
but mail states only rental router offer 24 x 5] +
optional free installer to visit if needed (he also
omitted installer from email}.
For a router with S0 bus for isdn, Deutsche Telekom could supply Speedport W922 , which did cost 299, now 199;
use 120 bonus to further reduce; Or I could buy a AVM Fritz Box 7490 in shops. Q: would 120 bonus be
usable against a AVM Fritz Box 7490 ? no
mention in email.
He said I am currently paying a 3.95 EU/month supplement
for free/flat calls to UK & Europe etc. That we
agreed would continue.
I looked up a bill: my monthly base = CountryFlat (1.4)
3.31
(3.94 inc 19% mwst) + Call & Surf Comfort (5)/
